Newham Primary School has been part of the ResourceSmart Schools program since 2013 and was a finalist in the 2024 ResourceSmart School of the Year category.
The school making science sustainable with ResourceSmart Schools
Poowong Consolidated Primary School became a ResourceSmart School in 2022, and science teacher and sustainability lead Lauren Dobie can’t believe she didn’t join sooner. 'It's just so good. I love the way it's structured,' she says. Since joining the program, this small school of just 124 students has saved $29,328.

Aitken College is leading the way in sustainability education, and inspiring others to follow its example. The school has been part of the ResourceSmart Schools program since 2008 and has achieved impressive results in biodiversity, waste management, and student engagement. They have also been nominated as a finalist at the ResourceSmart Schools Awards 4 times.
St Thomas Primary School
St Thomas Primary School in Drysdale is doing everything right when it comes to sustainability. They have compost bays; a frog bog; retractable blinds and 'ride and walk to school' days.
