16 to 22 October 2023

Celebrate National Bird Week by taking part in the biggest citizen science project to hit Aussie shores. Join thousands of people from across the country, heading out into their backyards, local parks, or favourite open spaces to take part in the Aussie Bird Count.

Bunnings is now providing hands-on support to local community groups including schools and kindergartens. Contact your local Bunnings to find out how they can support your school.

Bush Blitz TeachLive

Bush Blitz TeachLive is a fully funded educational and professional development program that places Australian primary and secondary school teachers of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and geography as research assistants on Bush Blitz expeditions.

During the expedition, teachers help scientists with vital data collection, learn scientific skills, and communicate with their students by posting blogs on the Earthwatch website, video-calling their class from the field. They also create lesson plans using their new knowledge and motivation following their Bush Blitz experience.

DEECA: Coastcare Schools Kit 

A unique professional learning opportunity for year 5 to 8 teachers and learning specialists. Ecolinc and Coastcare have joined forces in the delivery of an exciting 2-hour PD program focused on familiarising and upskilling teachers in the use of the Coastcare Schools Kit.

Love Letter to the Land with Costa

This year, Junior Landcare is celebrating 25 years of opening children’s hearts and hands to landcare. To help them celebrate, they have teamed up with Junior Landcare ambassador, Costa Georgiadis, for a special letter writing campaign that’s calling on kids to share what they love most about the environment and the steps they’re taking to protect it.

Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs

Collect plastic bread tags with your school community, which will be recycled and made into wheelchairs for disadvantaged people. With drop-off points across the country, this accessible program is a great initiative to become a part of.
