How it works

We combine technical expertise and social research with large survey data to produce insights. We also collaborate with an extensive network of local and international research partners including research and development specialists in Victoria’s academic community.

We deliver 4 types of research and insights:

  • Social research: statewide research studies to provide measures for community awareness and knowledge of climate change and sustainability.
  • Behavioural insights: specific research studies to identify household behaviours of Victorians that need to change to improve recycling or to reduce waste.
  • Market insights: analysis of emerging opportunities for communities and industries, and barriers to new practices, materials or technologies.
  • Program evaluation: formal evaluation of the impact of SV programs.

We also provide future foresight into what a climate resilient future looks like for Victoria, modelling the things that might or could happen. Our SV Lab delivers a range of essential services in this area, including leading the futures and foresight network across the Victorian government, regular horizon scanning to monitor the rapidly changing materials and energy landscapes, and providing our program leads with the modelling for the design of investment programs.
