How it works

Community groups and local councils receive funding to support projects that focus on the reduction of energy bills, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. Service Providers must be accredited by the Clean Energy Council.

The Community Climate Change and Energy Action (CCCEA) program has funded projects that include the installation of:

  • energy-efficient heating and cooling
  • heat pump hot water systems
  • rooftop solar installation
  • energy efficient appliances
  • solar battery storage
  • draught-proofing and insulation
  • energy efficient lighting.

Groups supported include upgrades to council facilities, sports pavilions, community centres, day care and aged care facilities, and Scouts Victoria.

The Community Power Hubs program supported the development of community-owned renewable energy projects focusing on projects that create shareable renewable energy sources such as solar farms and central battery storage. Community Power Hubs also provide their communities with advice on how community organisations can become energy efficient.
