SV’s online guide: Why councils should use recycled organic compost

Man holding a shovel of soil and smiling at the camera.

This guide aims to:

  • support council landscaping, parks and gardens officers to use more recycled organics (mulch and compost) on council land
  • highlight the benefits of these products and how they should be used to improve soil health and reduce reliance on fertilisers
  • inform council project engineers of the benefits of using composts and mulches to enhance waterways, roadside vegetation and the presentation of council assets
  • support council waste and sustainability officers’ work in the circular economy by maximising the capture of organic resources and improving feedstocks for compost manufacture.
