SV’s online guide: Why councils should use recycled organic compost
This guide aims to:
- support council landscaping, parks and gardens officers to use more recycled organics (mulch and compost) on council land
- highlight the benefits of these products and how they should be used to improve soil health and reduce reliance on fertilisers
- inform council project engineers of the benefits of using composts and mulches to enhance waterways, roadside vegetation and the presentation of council assets
- support council waste and sustainability officers’ work in the circular economy by maximising the capture of organic resources and improving feedstocks for compost manufacture.
Please contact sustainableprocurement@sustainability.vic.gov.au if you would like a hardcopy of this guide to share with your relevant council teams.
